Instagram added support for 3:4 aspect ratio for photos, this is how it works
Instagram has added support for 34 aspect ratio photos to improve the user experience. Now users will be able to upload photos without cropping. This change matches the default 34 ratio of most smartphone cameras. Till now, Instagram primarily supported square (11) and slightly vertical or tall (54 or 45) aspect ratio images.
Instagram has introduced the feature to support 3:4 aspect ratio images on the image and video sharing site in a special update for enhanced user experience. With this feature, now the users will be able to post images to Instagram without cropping. The feature is in line with the default mode of the majority of smartphone cameras, which capture images with the 3:4 aspect ratio.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri made a new announcement via Threads that photos taken in 3:4 format will now appear exactly as they are taken on the platform. This new image ratio update will apply to both single-image posts and carousels, giving Instagram users and creators more freedom in showcasing their content. Mosseri further said, 'People who post photos in 3:4 will now appear exactly as you took them.'
