Supreme Court notice to Allahabad HC in the matter of seniority status to lawyers in High Court; Know details
The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Allahabad High Court in the matter of seniority status to lawyers in the High Court. In the special leave petition filed in the Supreme Court, the process of senior advocate status of the Allahabad High Court in 2019 has been challenged. After the petition was rejected by the Allahabad High Court, Tiwari has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has given notice to the Allahabad High Court on a plea against the seniority status of lawyers in the High Court. Vishnu Bihari Tiwari, an Allahabad High Court lawyer, has moved the Supreme Court challenging the procedure of lawyers' seniority status in 2019.
Tiwari moved a special leave petition in the Supreme Court after it was rejected by the Allahabad High Court. A bench comprising Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjwal Bhuiyan, while hearing last Friday, issued notice to the Allahabad High Court and others, made respondents in the petition.
At the hearing, the bench was concerned about the High Court going against what had been laid out in the Supreme Court's Indira Jaisingh judgment. The bench stated that the High Court altered the Indira Jaisingh judgment in its wisdom. The Allahabad High Court's judgment last September has been challenged in the Supreme Court by Vishnu Bihari Tiwari in this matter.
The High Court, while rejecting Tiwari's petition, had justified the granting of seniority status to lawyers in 2019. Tiwari has described the Allahabad High Court's 2019 senior lawyer status process as irregular in the petition and said that the standards set in the Supreme Court's Indira Jaisingh decision have not been followed in it. It is known that in the decision given in the Indira Jaisingh case, the Supreme Court had set standards for assigning senior lawyer status to lawyers.
