Stock market trading begins on green mark; Sensex rises 150 points, Nifty crosses 22950

Sensex Opening Bell: At 10:19 am, Sensex was seen trading at 75,488.59, up 98.09 (0.13%) points. On the other hand, Nifty was seen trading at the level of 22,977.15 with a gain of 44.71 (0.19%) points.

Stock market trading begins on green mark; Sensex rises 150 points, Nifty crosses 22950

The domestic stock market appears to be trading flat following early gains on the first trading day of the week. The Sensex was trading at 75,488.59 at 10:19 am, up 98.09 (0.13%) points. However, Nifty saw trading at 22,977.15, up 44.71 (0.19%) points from the previous close.

Earlier on Tuesday, early trading in domestic markets saw an increase. Early trading saw Sensex, the 30-share index of the BSE, rise 194.9 points to 75,585.40. At 22,992.40, NSE Nifty increased by 59.95 points.

Shares of NTPC, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Wipro, State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, and Reliance Industries were the top gainers among Sensex-listed companies. Shares of Tech Mahindra, ITC, Power Grid, Asian Paints, and Titan suffered losses.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha election results, stock markets witnessed a record rise for the third consecutive session on Monday. The results of the general elections will be declared on June 4. In Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were in profit, while Japan's Nikkei and China's Shanghai Composite were in loss.

US markets were closed on Monday on the occasion of 'Memorial Day'. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, were trading 0.23 percent higher at US$83.29 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers in the capital market on Monday and sold shares worth a net of Rs 541.22 crore.
