South Africa’s Prenelan Subrayen Reported for Suspect Action After ODI Debut Win Against Australia

After the registration of a huge win of 98 runs in the opening fixture of the three-match ODI series against Australia at Cayleys Stadium in Cairns, bad news has broken for South Africa. In fact, South Africa's rookie off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been reported for suspect bowling action. The International Cricket Council (ICC) stated on Wednesday that the match officials' report in Cairns had raised concerns regarding the legality of Subrayen's bowling action.

The ICC further said, "Subrayan will have to undergo an independent assessment of his bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing facility to determine the legality of his bowling action." Prenelan Subriyan made his debut in the first ODI against Australia on Tuesday, which South Africa won by a huge margin of 98 runs. The 31-year-old Subriyan took 1 wicket for 46 runs in 10 overs and took the wicket of left-handed Australian opener Travis Head, who lost his wicket while trying to score runs quickly.

Subriyan had also debuted in Tests against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo this year, where he succeeded in bagging 4 wickets in the first innings. South Africa had won this Test match by an innings and 236 runs.

On the other hand, Prenelan Subriyan's bowling action being found suspicious is a big setback for South Africa, which was already playing without its fast Kagiso Rabada. Rabada was ruled out of the three-match ODI series due to swelling in his right ankle.
