Rohit Sharma took a shocking decision, retired from Test cricket before the England tour
Rohit Sharma announced retirement from Test cricket: Indian captain Rohit Sharma announced his immediate retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma made a big call on Wednesday and declared his retirement from international Test cricket. This move came at the time when the Indian team was scheduled to go to England for a tour of five tests after IPL 2025.
Sharing a news update on Instagram, Rohit Sharma posted, 'Hello, I'd like to inform everyone I'm retiring from playing Test cricket. It has been a very proud moment for me to play for the country in Test cricket. A big thank you to everyone for the support and love. I will still play the ODI format.'
Rohit's last match, at the age of 38 years, was the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, played during which India was defeated. Rohit Sharma was left out of the fifth match of the series due to bad play, and India was defeated 1-3 in the series. It is believed that his below-par performance is the primary reason for his retirement from playing Test matches. Aside from this, India was defeated 0-3 at home under his leadership and 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Because of the defeats, the Indian team failed to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
