At the International Airport in Rajasthan's capital Jaipur, the Directorate of Revenue Information (DRI) team has recovered five kg 829 grams of gold from a passenger who arrived on a flight from Dubai. Its market value is said to be Rs 3.5 crore. The passenger has been arrested and sent to jail.
DRI officials had received information from an informer that a young man from Sikar had brought gold on a flight from Dubai on Friday night. When the team investigated on this, it came to light that five passengers in the plane had come to Jaipur from Sikar.
When the team stopped all five and searched, a mixie was found near a passenger. When the team saw, the weight Mixie was more than the average. On this, the team investigated the mixie. During this, 5 kg 829 grams of gold was found in solid foam in the mixie.
The passenger at first denied having gold, but later when strictly questioned, he accepted that he had brought gold from Dubai. The name of the passenger is being told as Rahmat. He had gone to Dubai for employment. The team checked the passenger's passport and found that he had traveled between India and Dubai several times.
The officials suspect that he is involved in gold smuggling. Further inquiries are expected to reveal this.
