PV Sindhu starts with a win after marriage, entered the second round of the BWF India Open
India Open: PV Sindhu defeated Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei 21-14, 22-20 in a match that lasted 51 minutes in the women's singles round of 32 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu opened her account with a win in her first event after marriage and entered the second round of the BWF India Open. It was a mixed day for India, while the women's doubles pair of 5th-seeded Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were knocked out of the Super 750 event on Tuesday.
PV Sindhu, who has slipped in form and ranking of late, defeated Chinese Taipei's Sung Shuo Yun 21-14, 22-20 in a 51-minute match in the women's singles round of 32 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi to make her way back into the top-10 ranking.
Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Trisha and Gayatri lost to the unseeded Japanese pair of Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto, 21-23, 19-21 in a fighting effort.
Former world No.1 Srikanth Kidambi, who got a late entry into the main draw after some players withdrew, did not turn up for his match and China's World No.21 Hong Yang Weng advanced to the round of 16 with a walkover. Fellow Indian Kiran George advanced to the second round with a tough three-game win over Japan's Yushi Tanaka, who is ranked 25th in the BWF rankings. World number 38 Kiran won the men's singles round of 32 match 21-19, 14-21, 27-25 in a match that lasted 71 minutes.
The mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto also reached the round of 16. They defeated the pair of Cheng Kuan Chen and Yin-Hui Hsu of Chinese Taipei in three games. They bounced back after losing the first game to win 6-21, 21-10, 21-17 in 51 minutes on Court 1.
In women's singles, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon was among the top players to reach the next round. She defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-13, 21-15 in a 36-minute match between two former world champions.
