A big action was taken by the Union Home Ministry (MHA) in the case of digital arrest and cyber fraud. It has been told recently that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) have blocked at least 17,000 WhatsApp accounts used by cyber criminals from Southeast Asia.

A post has also been made by the Home Ministry on X, Cyberdost operated by the Home Ministry said that it aims to disrupt the criminal network and strengthen the digital security of India. According to sources, the IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record) of digital fraudsters arrested is located in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Here they were being used for cyber fraud.

In May this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs formed an inter-ministerial committee after a sharp hike in international organized cybercrime originating from Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos-Philippines. Approximately 45 percent of the Indian cyber-financial frauds belong to these places in Southeast Asia. The crimes have led out to become more critical, dangerous, and big, resulting in victims' loss of lots of money.

I4C has taken several steps to damage the hackers' infrastructure. Similarly, Indian citizens protesting in Cambodian cities were arrested and steps were taken to send them back home to keep them safe.

I4C addresses all cybercrime concerns of a citizen, improves the coordination amongst different law enforcement agencies and stakeholders, renews the ability of India to handle cybercrime, and brings in baseline improvement levels of citizen satisfaction. On 5 October 2018, it approved the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre scheme.
