Iyer’s Injury Worse Than Feared: Scans Reveal Spleen Damage, Says BCCI

Indian cricket team middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer got injured during the third game of the ODI series played against Australia in Sydney. The injury was so severe that he was admitted to the ICU. The whole cricket world is praying for his quick recovery. Meanwhile, the BCCI has issued a statement regarding Iyer's injury stating that his condition is stable.
The BCCI said in a statement, "Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious abdominal injury, which caused internal bleeding. The injury was immediately diagnosed. The bleeding stopped immediately after treatment. His condition is now stable, and he is under observation. Repeat scans on Tuesday showed significant improvement in his injury. The Board's medical team, in consultation with experts from Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress."
Releasing a second medical update, the BCCI stated that Shreyas' injury was initially thought to be a rib problem, but the injury was more serious than anticipated. Scans revealed a spleen injury, which led to Iyer being admitted to the ICU of a Sydney hospital. Iyer is now out of the ICU.

Iyer currently plays only in the ODI format. Following the Champions Trophy, he joined the Indian team for the Australia ODI series. He didn't perform well in the first ODI of the series. However, in the second ODI, Iyer played a crucial innings of 61 runs and shared a 118-run partnership with Rohit Sharma for the third wicket, helping India reach 264 after being 17 for 2.
