IPL 2024: Navjot Singh Sidhu shocking statement on making Hardik Pandya the captain of Mumbai Indians

The performance of five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has been very poor so far. The team has faced defeat in all three matches played so far. On the other hand, the fans are angry with Hardik Pandya being made the captain of the team by removing Rohit Sharma and are continuously trolling him. After all this, former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has given a statement. In which he has explained why Mumbai has removed Rohit and given the command of the team to Pandya.

Mumbai Indians' new captain Hardik Pandya was trolled by fans in all three matches played so far, including the home clash with Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday. Meanwhile, while speaking on Star Sports, Navjot Sidhu talked about the uproar by Mumbai Indians fans towards captain Hardik Pandya. Sidhu said that the fans will be thinking 'What wrong has Rohit done?'

Sidhu said, 'Nobody can digest the fact that the hero of India, the captain of India, is not the captain of our franchise. What has he done wrong? That's what fans of the franchise might be wondering. But what should he do? There is no such thing as success. If Hardik had won these two matches, perhaps this chaos would not have happened.

Sidhu said, 'This was all related to the announcement of India's captain for the T20 World Cup. If BCCI had confirmed Rohit as the captain for the T20 World Cup in October, the franchise would not have chosen Hardik as the captain. It is a matter of respect for the franchise. So, the real issue here is time.

The Mumbai Indians have stated that the captaincy change is a move towards the future. At the age of thirty-six, Rohit Sharma has won five IPL championships with the Mumbai Indians. Thirty is the age of Hardik Pandya. In 2022, he guided Gujarat Titans (GT) to the IPL championship; the next year, he placed second. In addition to winning five IPL titles, he made his IPL debut in 2015 with the Mumbai Indians. which includes championship victories with the Mumbai Indians in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 as well as the Gujarat Titans in 2022.
