IPL 2024: KKR can reach the finals directly without playing a match, understand the complete mathematics

IPL 2024 has now reached the exciting phase of playoffs after the league stage. The first qualifier match under the playoff will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. This match will be played on May 21 at 7.30 pm Indian time at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While KKR has qualified for the playoffs by topping the points table of IPL 2024, Sunrajers Hyderabad has qualified by being in the second position. But, do you know that the KKR team can now reach the finals even without playing a match? Let us also tell you how?

The last few matches of the IPL 2024 have been canceled due to rain. The league is now in its final stages. Everyone is now wondering if the rain will also affect the playoff games. In Ahmedabad, where the previous two matches were canceled due to rain, Kolkata and Hyderabad will square off in the IPL Qualifier-1 on Tuesday, May 21. With this match also being a washout, RCB will advance to the final without needing to play.

Every playoff game does not have a reserve day. If it rains during Qualifier-1, there will be an extra two hours to complete the match with at least five overs per side or to use Super Over to determine the winner. If there is still no result then the team ranked higher in the points table will get the ticket for the final. In such a situation, KKR will directly reach the finals. Whereas, SRH will have to play the second qualifier against the winner of the eliminator.
