Honda Cars India Moves Closer to EV Launch with Honda α Testing

Honda sells different types of cars in India. It is preparing to launch its first electric car, Honda α, in India in the near future. The company started testing this car in India. Honda officially started testing its Honda α car in India. This SUV was part of a testing program that started on March 16.

Honda stated that it would conduct tests to check its electric SUV in different conditions, such as highways in India, streets in India, and tough conditions. The tests would include checking the durability, handling, comfort, and efficiency of the EV. The car would be tested in extreme weather and in the monsoon season.

Honda Cars India President and CEO Takashi Nakajima said, "The start of public road validation testing across India is a significant milestone in our electrification journey. India's driving and climatic conditions are unique, and it is important for us to thoroughly test our electric vehicle in a realistic environment. This program demonstrates Honda's global engineering capabilities and special attention to local customer needs as we prepare to introduce an electric SUV that delivers reliability, comfort, and ease of use."

Honda is expected to launch this electric SUV in the 2026-27 fiscal year, but an exact launch date has not yet been disclosed. The manufacturer has stated that this SUV will be manufactured in India. From India, it will also be exported to Japan and several other countries.
