Rajasthan Weather Update: Heavy rain alert has been issued in five districts of Rajasthan today. IMD has warned that heavy rain may occur in 5 districts including Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh on Monday.

Heavy Monsoon Rains Lash Rajasthan; IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert in 18 Districts

During the final week of August, monsoon rains are heavy in Rajasthan due to east winds that blow from the Bay of Bengal. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may occur in 5 districts of the state today, and a thunder and lightning alert has also been issued in many other districts. In the next 3 to 4 days, moderate rain may occur in Udaipur, Jodhpur division, and light rain may occur in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Kota division. The state received heavy rains in the month of July, but monsoon activities remained sluggish in the first three weeks of August. However, due to heavy rainfall in July, the state has received about 38 percent more rainfall than the average monsoon rainfall so far.

The average level of rain in the monsoon season is 424.71 mm. So far, 421 mm of rain has fallen in the state. The highest seasonal rainfall was witnessed in Bassi of Chittorgarh. There were 320 mm of water received during a single day. Discussing the state of the state's dams, up to August 17, 274 small and medium-sized dams have been filled to the brim. This season, more inflow is being registered in Kota, Tonk, Dholpur, Pali, and Rajsamand compared to last season. Since the construction of Bisalpur Dam, for the first time in July, the dam has been filled with water.

IMD has issued a warning of thunderstorms with lightning in Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, and Barmer today.
