A fake advisory is going viral on social media and messaging apps stating "tense situation at the border" and people are being asked to deposit currency, petrol, medicines and other emergency materials. A copy of the advisory is being disseminated on WhatsApp as well about this. In response to the viral message, government officials have made it clear no such advisory has been placed by the Government of India, any security organization or disaster management department and the people have been urged to steer away from such false information.

What is in this fake advisory?

  • In this fake “Advisory Notice”, people have been asked to…
  • Keep Rs 50,000 in cash
  • Fill the vehicle with full fuel
  • Keep a stock of medicines for 2 months
  • Make arrangements for power backup

This advisory is without any government logo, agency name, or certification, but it is designed in such a way that it looks like a government order to the general public.

No such advisory has been issued by the Government of India or any authorized agency. Spreading such rumors after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, is a serious offense and punishable under cyber law. Mock drill is a routine exercise, it has no connection with any emergency.
