Google Maps is under investigation in India. Recently an incident happened in which three people died after a car fell from an under-construction bridge in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Google has said that it is helping the Indian authorities investigate the matter. Allegedly, they fell from the incomplete bridge due to following the route shown on Google Maps.
It is being told that these people were going to attend a wedding. On Sunday morning, their car fell from an incomplete bridge into the Ramganga River. According to police officials, the driver had chosen the route through Google Maps. Police questioned an official of the navigation app and others from the government Public Works Department.
A Google spokesperson told AFP over email, "Our deepest condolences are with the families, and we're working closely with the authorities and to assist in an investigation regarding the case."
A local police said that a part of the bridge was damaged during the flood in last year. Such an incident has also taken place in Kerala. A year ago, two doctors were killed in Kerala. They had chosen the route coming on their car app and their car fell into the Periyar River.
