Gill warned his team's batsmen before the second Test match, issued an order to overcome this deficiency
IND vs ENG: Indian team captain Shubman Gill has warned his team's batsmen before the second Test match and said that the top order will have to bat with more responsibility. India lost the first Test match played at Headingley. It is in dire need of victory in the second match.

Indian team captain Shubman Gill has warned his team's batsmen before the second Test to be played at Edgbaston. He has said that batsmen would have to be more responsible. Gill has said this while reacting to his team's lower order underperforming.
At Headingley in their first Test match, India's top and middle order batting was fine, but their lower order did not hold up, due to which the team could not reach beyond the score that it should have. On this matter, Gill has told his batsmen to be more responsible while batting.
Gill has admitted that the tail-end batsmen of the team failed in the first match, and they could not do the work that the tail-end batsmen of other teams do in Tests. Gill said that he has accepted this and has talked about compensating for it from the top order. Gill said in the press conference before the second Test match, "This is something we always talk about, especially about the depth of our batting, that our lower order is not able to contribute the way it does in other teams. But we have to look at the other side as well. I was batting on 147 and could have easily added 50 more runs."
Gill said, "If you get a good ball to hit, then it is fine. But once you are set and there is not much depth in your batting, then the top order can take some more responsibility."
Team India can make some changes in the second match. Shardul Thakur got a chance in the first match. He may rest in the second match. Nitish Kumar Reddy can replace Thakur. Jaspreet Bumrah can also be rested. Akashdeep is sure to play in his place.
