Infrastructure: The Finance Ministry has released a roadmap for 852 PPP projects worth over ₹17 lakh crore. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Andhra Pradesh have the largest share in this plan, which will begin in the fiscal year 2026.

Finance Ministry Targets Private Investment with ₹17 Lakh Crore PPP Plan

With the intention of fast-tracking infrastructure development and attracting private sector investments, the Finance Ministry made a significant announcement on Tuesday. The Finance Ministry has announced a list of 852 projects, including infrastructure, over a period of three years, under the PPP model, and the estimated cost would be over ₹17 lakh crore.

This is in accordance with the announcements made in the Union Budget 2025-26. The plan, which was drawn up by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the Finance Ministry, is set to start in 2026. According to data shared by the ministry, both central government ministries and state governments have a stake in these projects.

Out of the total funding, the Union Ministry of Infrastructure will drive 232 projects in PPP with an outlay of ₹13.15 lakh crores. On the other hand, 20 states and UTs will collectively work on 620 projects with an outlay of ₹3.84 lakh crores.

The biggest stake is in the road and energy sectors. Looking at the portfolio of central ministries, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways dominates. The ministry has the highest number of projects, with a total outlay of ₹8.76 lakh crore.

The Ministry of Power has 46 projects, with a total budget of ₹3.4 lakh crore. The Ministry of Railways has 13 projects with a total budget of ₹30,904 crore. The Water Resources Department has a total expenditure of ₹12,254 crore on 29 projects. The Ministry of Civil Aviation will have an allocation of ₹2,262 crore for 11 projects. This includes one project worth Rs 8,743 crore under the Ministry of Petroleum and two projects worth Rs 6,646 crore under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Andhra Pradesh Leads Among States A state-wise analysis shows that Andhra Pradesh leads in terms of PPP projects. The state has 270 projects proposed with an outlay of Rs 1.16 lakh crore. It is followed by Tamil Nadu with 70 projects worth Rs 87,640 crore. Madhya Pradesh has 21 projects worth Rs 65,496 crore in the pipeline, and Jammu and Kashmir has 57 projects worth Rs 21,374 crore in the pipeline.
