Digital fraudsters will no longer be spared, e-Zero FIR will be registered in cybercrime cases
Now, the victims of cyber fraud will not have to go to the police to register an FIR. Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the facility of e-Zero FIR, where a complaint made on the NCRP portal and helpline number 1930 will automatically turn into an e-Zero FIR. At present, this facility has been started as a pilot project in Delhi.

Cyber fraud victims do not need to visit a police station to lodge an FIR anymore. An FIR automatically converts into an e-Zero FIR when a complainant registers a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Portal (NCRP) and helpline number 1930 of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C).
Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah initiated the facility of e-Zero FIR to target cyber criminals. In its current scenario, it's launched as a pilot project in Delhi and will be launched in cyber fraud cases involving over Rs 10 lakh.
Amit Shah stated that grievances lodged upon the portal and helpline number for NCRP will automatically be registered as a Zero FIR in the e-crime police station in Delhi.
According to him, this will help in the easy recovery of the money lost by the complainants and will also facilitate action against cyber criminals.
He said that this system will speed up the investigation, and after Delhi, it will soon be implemented in the whole country. In fact, during the review meeting of the activities of I4C, Amit Shah had recently instructed to make necessary technical provisions for this to help the victims of cybercrime.
After this, NCPR system of I4C, e-FIR system of Delhi Police, and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) were integrated, which made the facility of e-Zero FIR possible in cyber crimes.
After the zero FIR is registered at Delhi's e-crime police station, it will be immediately sent to the concerned regional cyber crime police station for further action. After this, the complainant can go to the cyber crime police station within three days and convert the zero FIR into a regular FIR.
It is worth noting that to deal with the increasing cyber crimes in the country, I4C has been formed under the Home Ministry, which operates the NCRP portal and helpline number. Along with this, new centers of cyber criminals, new emerging methods are also analyzed in I4C. On the basis of which the police of different states ensure action against cyber criminals.
