Dhoni's CSK player will sit on Gambhir's throne, this legend retired from cricket to become KKR's mentor
Dwayne Bravo KKR mentorship in IPL 2025: Dwayne Bravo has become the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders a few hours after retiring from all formats of cricket.
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder and West Indies veteran Dwayne Bravo has become the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Bravo, who was once a special player of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, will now take over Gautam Gambhir's throne in KKR.
Dwayne Bravo has become the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders a few hours after retiring from all formats of cricket. Bravo said in a post on Instagram, "My mind still wants to play more cricket but my body is no longer allowing it. I cannot put myself in a situation where my teammates, fans, and the teams I represent are disappointed with me. So, with a heavy heart, I announce my retirement from this game.”
In fact, Bravo saw many records in T20 cricket in his 18-year-long career. He was part of the trophy-winning teams in IPL, PSL, and Big Bash. Besides that, he was also a part of West Indies that won the T20 World Cup twice. He played 582 matches in T20 cricket and took 631 wickets in it.
Bravo won five titles in the CPL, with three coming for the Trinbago Knight Riders. In the last few seasons of the CPL, Bravo has been playing his role in grooming young talent-a similar role played by Mahendra Singh Dhoni for CSK in IPL at this time.
Bravo recently met KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the current season of CPL. The all-rounder, apart from KKR, will also be a part of the Knight Riders franchise in other leagues - Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
Mysore said in a statement, "We are all excited about Bravo joining. His passion for winning, his experience will prove beneficial for the players and the franchise." At the same time, Bravo said in a statement, "I have been a part of Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL for the last 10 years. While playing for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have developed a lot of respect for this franchise, the way it operates. The passion of the owners, the professional attitude of the management and the family atmosphere make it a special place. As I am now transitioning from a player to the role of a coach, this is the right platform for me at such a time."
