CSK changed captain in amidst of IPL 2025, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was made the captain again for this reason
MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings Captain, IPL 2025: Chennai's regular captain Rituraj Gaikwad is out of IPL 2025 due to injury. In his place, MS Dhoni will take over the captaincy of CSK in the ongoing season.
The journey of five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has taken another hit. In the meanwhile, they have endured an immense loss. The regular captain of the team Rituraj Gaikwad is ruled out for the whole IPL season because of an injury. In Gaikwad's absence, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead the rest of the season's games.
Rituraj Gaikwad has been forced out of IPL 2025 following an elbow injury. He got injured in the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) when his elbow was hit by a fast bowler's ball. In spite of this, Rituraj played in the following two games against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, a recent scan has confirmed an elbow fracture.
Confirming Gaikwad's ouster, CSK coach Stephen Fleming said, "As far as replacement is concerned, we have very few options in the team. We have not yet taken a final decision on anyone. Dhoni was ready to take charge of the team and he understood very well why this responsibility was being entrusted to him."
