Cold Wave Grips Rajasthan as Mercury Dips to 7°C; Fatehpur Records Season’s Lowest Temperature
Rajasthan News: Cold winds from North India have intensified the cold in Rajasthan. Temperatures in Fatehpur dropped to 7.5°C. Several cities recorded temperatures below 20°C for the first time. Clear weather is expected by next week, but further increases in cold are possible.
Icy winds blowing from North India have suddenly intensified the cold in Rajasthan. The mercury dipped to 7°C in many areas of the state. For the first time this season, the temperatures reached single digits. According to the Meteorological Department, Nagaur and Fatehpur were the coldest on Thursday and recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C. Fatehpur recorded 7.5°C, the lowest temperature of this season. A single-day drop of 5.8°C was recorded. Nagaur recorded 9.4°C, while Lunkaransar near Bikaner recorded 8.9°C.
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre said skies will remain clear over the state in the next week, though mercury may dip further by 2-3 degrees due to cold winds. Minimum temperature below 20 degrees Celsius was recorded on Thursday for the first time across the state. Temperatures were recorded at 18.2 degrees Celsius in Barmer, 17.5 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 13.7 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur, 14.2 degrees Celsius in Bikaner and Ganganagar, 14 degrees Celsius in Udaipur, 11 degrees Celsius in Sikar, 11.6 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 16.7 degrees Celsius in Jaipur, 13.7 degrees Celsius in Ajmer, 17.8 degrees Celsius in Kota, and 14.8 degrees Celsius in Alwar. The effects of the cold winds were also felt during the day. Barmer recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, while many cities, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Sikar, Chittorgarh, and Alwar, recorded daytime temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius.
Ajmer recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.7 degrees Celsius. 27.2 and 14.6 in Bhilwara, 29.6 and 14.6 in Bansthali (Tonk), 27.4 and 14.8 in Alwar, 28.2 and 16.7 in Jaipur, 29.5 and 11.6 in Pilani, 26.5 and 11 in Sikar, 28.4 and 17.8 in Kota, 29.5 and 13.8 in Chittorgarh, 28 and 14 in Udaipur, 34.5 and 18.2 in Barmer, 33.2 and 17.5 in Jaisalmer, 30.9 and 13.7 in Jodhpur, 30.2 and 14.2 in Bikaner, 28.6 and 10.6 in Churu, 28.6 and 14.2 in Ganganagar, 29.6 and 9.4 in Nagaur, Hanumangarh 28.1 and 16.9 in Jalore, 31.3 and 15.5 in Sirohi, 30.3 and 9.8 in Sirohi, 27.5 and 7.5 in Fatehpur, 28.3 and 13.1 in Karauli, 28.6 and 14 in Dausa and 26.8 and 11.8 degrees Celsius in Jhunjhunu.
