Big blow to Punjab Kings before IPL starts: Star batsman Johnny Bairstow injured

Even before the start of the IPL, the Punjab Kings got a big blow. England star batsman and Punjab Kings batsman Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of IPL due to a knee injury. In his place, the Punjab team has called Matthew Shot of Australia.
The Punjab Kings tried several times to get an update on the injury from the England Cricket Board through the BCCI. Now ECB is that Bairstow will not be able to play IPL.
In September 2022, Bairstow was injured while playing golf with his friends. This injury came to him before the third Test against South Africa. He had slipped while playing golf. This resulted in multiple fractures to his fibula, which required a plate to be inserted during surgery a few days later.
This week, Bairstow has started batting practice in the Yorkshire nets. They will currently be playing a few games in the County Championship. Along with batting, his focus will also be on wicket-keeping. ECB wants Bairstow to be fully fit to play Test cricket. On June 1, the England team will play a Test match against Ireland at Lord's ground. Also, Bairstow can also be seen in the Ashes series to be held in England from 22 June.
For Short, this will be his first IPL experience. He was the Player of the Tournament in the recent Big Bash League where, opening for the Adelaide Strikers, he scored the most runs in the tournament behind Hardy.
Along with short batting, he also bowls off-spin. He took a total of 11 wickets at an economy of 7.13 while bowling in the Powerplay during the BBL.
