After Babar Azam, Noman Ali was the first player to win the ICC Player of the Month award
ICC Player of the Month Award: The ICC has selected Pakistani player Noman Ali as the Player of the Month for October. Noman Ali has become the second Pakistani player to win this award after Babar Azam.
Noman Ali has been awarded the October Player of the Month by the ICC. After more than a year, the left-arm spinner made his Test debut for Pakistan, taking 20 wickets in two games while also scoring an important 78 runs. After trailing behind 0-1 in the series, Pakistan was able to upset England due to his return and Sajid Khan's outstanding batting. After Babar Azam, 38-year-old Noman Ali is the first player from Pakistan to receive the award. The award was given to Babar last August.
He performed this feat by pipping Kagiso Rabada and Mitchell Santner. While Rabada took 14 wickets in 2 Tests against Bangladesh to become the fastest bowler to take 300 wickets in red-ball cricket history, Santner helped New Zealand beat India for the first time in their 92-year history. But if we count only individual performances, Noman was slightly ahead.
Nobody, for that matter, 38-year-old Noman, believed he would again wear the national colors of Pakistan- his record wasn't great before the defeat of England and age wasn't in his favor too, but the left-arm orthodox spinner impressively 'changed' things. He along with his partner Sajid helped Pakistan win their first Test series at home since 2021.
On winning the award, Noman Ali said that I am very happy to be selected as the ICC Men's Player of the Month and I am very grateful to all my teammates who helped me perform at my best so that Pakistan could win the historic home Test series against England. It is always exciting to be a part of such a memorable victory for your country.
