The Supreme Court on Monday allowed a 14-year-old alleged rape victim to undergo medical abortion of her nearly 28-week pregnancy. The top court passed the order after taking into account the medical report submitted by the hospital. The report recommended medical termination of the minor and stated that continuing the pregnancy would have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of the minor.

Under Article 142 of the Constitution, a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud issued an order to the Lokmanya Tilak Nagar Medical College and General Instructed the Hospital's Dean (LTMGH) to carry out the necessary actions to ensure complete justice in any case. In Sion, Mumbai, a medical team will be assembled right away to end the pregnancy.

The minor was to have a medical examination, as ordered by the apex court earlier on April 19. Let us inform you that the victim had petitioned the Supreme Court to end her pregnancy at 28 weeks.

The Supreme Court had ordered the medical test of this minor on April 19.
