Sridhar Vembu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the giant software company Zoho, has cited the example of Japan and China and said that there is a need to learn from demographic change. He said, 'I don't know any country that has reversed it. This is one of the many reasons why I prefer rural life.' Sridhar said that he actively adopts India's traditional culture and wants to pursue economic development that is in favor of children.
He referred to demographic changes in developed countries and said, Japan had reached the peak of its technological capability around 1990. Japan overtook the US to become the world's number one economy. However, the situation today is challenging due to severe demographic decline. According to Sridhar, China today represents the world in many fields. However, China is also facing a demographic decline.
He said that China's elite is aware of it, but it is difficult to change the demographic changes that have happened in the past. He said that changes were made in an effort to move forward rapidly. According to Sridhar, among the many factors of demographic change are - large-scale urbanization, extreme lack of work-life balance, long journeys, loss of traditional culture, loss of religious faith, and rise of the nuclear family. Once it starts, it is extremely complex to reverse it. He does not know of any country that has succeeded in changing the demography.
