X accounts of Chinese and Turkish government media restored in India, were suspended after Operation Sindoor
X Accounts: The Government of India has lifted the ban on the X accounts of the Chinese news agency Global Times and Turkey's TRT World. The Indian government had taken this action on the charge of spreading false information related to Operation Sindoor.

The Indian government has reinstated access to the Chinese government media outlet Global Times' and Turkish TRT World's X (formerly Twitter) accounts. Both accounts had been suspended in India from the early hours of Wednesday. It is surmised that the access was suspended as Pakistan used Turkish drones in Indian airspace, and misleading information began being circulated post-Operation Sindoor.
On Wednesday, users on the X accounts of China's Global Times and Xinhua News Agency were seeing "This account has been blocked in response to a legal request in India". The same message was also seen on the account of Turkey's state broadcaster TRT World.
According to Amar Ujala sources, the ban was imposed at a time when these accounts were spreading misleading and false information about India's military action after Pakistan's drone intrusion into the Indian border and India's 'Operation Sindoor'.
On May 8, the Indian government issued an executive order to the social media platform X, demanding the blocking of more than 8,000 accounts in the country. According to X's Global Government Affairs Division, non-compliance with these orders risked heavy fines and arrest of local staff.
The order also included blocking the accounts of some major international media institutions and famous X users in India. Earlier on May 7, the Indian Embassy in China reprimanded the Global Times for publishing fake news. That report claimed that Pakistan had shot down an Indian fighter plane.
The Indian Embassy in Beijing addressed the Global Times on X and said that we would advise you to check the facts and cross-check your sources before sharing any kind of misleading information.
Now, the X accounts of these government media platforms have been made available again in India. However, the government has not yet issued any formal statement on this restoration.
