Meta continuously adds new features to its messaging app WhatsApp. The company is currently testing a feature to enable users to add a Facebook-style cover photo. The feature is at present in beta testing but could be made available to standard users shortly.

Previous to this, WhatsApp users had only been able to add a profile image, but in the latest update, users will be able to add a cover image as well. This feature will be available in the profile settings, where users can choose any cover image of their choice. According to reports, the cover photo will appear above the profile picture and will be quite large and wide in size. Users will be able to choose to show it to everyone, only their contacts, or no one at all. This setting will be located under the Privacy tab.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature is currently available to WhatsApp Android beta users. It is currently in internal testing, but it may be released as a public beta for more users in the coming weeks. It's worth noting that WhatsApp Business Profiles already have a cover photo feature, which is now being rolled out to general users.

Meta is gradually moving towards a consistent experience across all its platforms – Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The cover photo feature is part of this strategy, providing users with a unified experience across all apps. This move is transforming WhatsApp from just a chatting app to a platform for personal expression.

Recently, AI chatbots (such as ChatGPT and Perplexity) have emerged as a new challenge for Meta. Many companies were trying to launch their AI assistants on WhatsApp, but Meta has now started blocking such bots on the platform. The company wants only its official AI tools and features to be available on WhatsApp.

The new cover photo feature will make WhatsApp profiles more personal and attractive. Users will be able to customize their profiles according to their mood, preferences, or theme. This feature will be especially beneficial for those who want to make their WhatsApp profiles unique and expressive. WhatsApp's new cover photo feature will give the app a fresh look and a Meta-like feel. This feature will not only enhance profiles but also bring WhatsApp closer to social media. This update is expected to be available to all users soon.
