Stones were pelted in two groups during the procession in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. According to the police, the procession was being taken out during Sambhaji Jayanti on Sunday. People in the procession raised slogans while passing near the shrine. After this, stone pelting started from both sides.
Police lathi-charged to control the crowd. Two policemen were injured in the stone pelting. 31 people have been taken into custody. The heavy police force has been deployed in Ahmednagar. Curfew has been imposed here.
Violent clashes broke out between two communities in Akola on Saturday over a social media post. One person died in this. The miscreants burnt several vehicles. Some people even tried to gherao the police station. Eight people were injured in the stone-pelting, including two policemen. Police have detained 30 people. Section 144 has been imposed in the city. Police forces have been called from other districts as well.
