OpenAI Plans All-in-One ‘Superapp’ Combining ChatGPT and Codex

Simo confirmed the report by sharing a post on WJP (formerly Twitter). He said, "Companies sometimes experiment with new things, and sometimes focus on improving their existing work. Both are crucial for a company's success."

He added, "But when new experiments start to succeed, as we're seeing with Codex, it becomes crucial to focus more on them and avoid distractions. We're really excited to be taking full advantage of this opportunity."

According to the report, this Superapp will combine OpenAI's main AI tools, including ChatGPT, its AI-powered browser, and its AI enterprise tool Codex, into a single application. This 'Superapp' is said to streamline resources and improve efficiency.

The company is ambitious about this new desktop app, which goes far beyond the capabilities of an AI chatbot. It's believed the app will be based on 'Agency AI,' which will operate on users' devices and write software, analyze data, and complete other complex tasks on their behalf.

If all goes according to plan, this capability could mark the beginning of a new era in consumer products.

An internet note from Simo, sent to employees on March 19, stated: "We realized we were scattering our efforts across too many apps and stacks and now need to simplify our efforts."

He added, "This fragmentation was slowing us down and making it difficult to achieve the high quality levels we wanted."
