Mumbai Indians star batsman Suryakumar Yadav became the first Indian and second overall fastest batsman to have hit 4000 runs with fewer balls played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday. He did so while batting for Mumbai against Lucknow Super Giants in the 45th match in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Suryakumar, who batted with Mumbai Indians losing 2 wickets at 88, smashed a six from off-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and two successive fours, and subsequently, within the 13.2nd over, hit Avesh Khan's delivery over the boundary line and registered his 4000th inning of the IPL off fewer balls.

Surya Kumar Yadav's 4000 runs came in 2714 balls. He has become the first Indian player to achieve this feat in the least number of balls. He surpassed Indian player Suresh Raina in this matter. Talking about the overall, he became the second player to complete 4000 runs in less balls in IPL history. In this case, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers are jointly at the top, both of whom achieved this feat in 2658 balls equally. Former Australian opener David Warner scored his 4000 runs in 2809 balls, while Chennai Super Kings veteran Suresh Raina achieved this feat in 2886 balls. They are among the top five on the list.
