Sri Lanka has performed exceptionally well in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh and has gained a strong position in the match. By the end of day two, the Sri Lankan team had scored 290 runs for the loss of two wickets and now leads by 43 runs with eight wickets remaining.

Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 146 runs while batting brilliantly. Meanwhile, experienced batsman Dinesh Chandimal narrowly missed his century, falling short by just 7 runs. The two shared a partnership of 194 runs for the second wicket, which bolstered Sri Lanka's innings. Chandimal was dismissed for 93 while attempting to reverse sweep Naeem Hasan's ball in the final session.

Earlier, Bangladesh resumed on day two with a score of 237/8, but Sri Lankan fast bowlers quickly finished the innings within an hour. Sonal Dinusha took 3 wickets for 22 runs, and Asitha Fernando took 3 wickets for 51 runs. Together, they claimed 6 wickets and restricted Bangladesh to 247 runs. For Bangladesh, Taijul Islam struggled for a while, scoring 33 runs off 60 balls.

Sri Lanka began their innings strongly. Nissanka and Lahiru Udara opened with a partnership of 88 runs. However, Udara (40 runs) was caught LBW by Naeem Hasan soon after lunch. After that, Nissanka and Chandimal put pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers. Both batted well and didn't give Bangladesh any chances.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam kept control for some time, especially after lunch and at the start of the final session. But Ibadat Hossain and Nahid Rana's undisciplined seam bowling gave the opposition some relief, conceding 87 runs in 19 overs. Nayeem Hasan, on the other hand, took only one wicket, giving 45 runs in 14 overs.
