Due to the political upheaval in Bangladesh, high vigilance is being maintained at every level in India. The central government is concerned about about 19 thousand Indians stranded in Bangladesh as well as the continuous attacks on minority Hindus there. This is likely to increase migration from Bangladesh to India.

Due to instability in the neighborhood, there is also a danger of militant organizations becoming active again on the eastern border. Along with all these issues, Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in Parliament House on Tuesday to discuss the current situation in Bangladesh.

Even the Home Secretary was present here. After the erstwhile Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina left her country in urgency and came to India, anarchy on the eastern border is feared to rise, thereby increasing challenges for the security agencies. This might be the reason that every activity is being scanned minutely and even the smallest incidents are being revised. Bangladesh has a more than crore 30 lakh Hindu population.

The attacks against them have increased after the incident. Fundamentalists have vandalized Hindu temples. Anarchy has spread to such an extent that even the police and army of Bangladesh are not in a position to do anything. Whenever fundamentalist forces have dominated the neighboring country, a large number of its citizens have taken refuge in India. Making arrangements for such a large number of people will be a big challenge for India.

This time the fundamentalists are also targeting the leaders of the Awami League. Their houses are being burnt. Violence is taking place. In such a situation, they can also seek refuge in India. The international border between India and Bangladesh is more than four thousand kilometers long. This is the fifth largest land border in the world, which passes through rivers, mountains, and forests. In case of increased migration, monitoring such a long border can become very difficult. In such a situation, along with the infiltrators, the militant organizations of the Northeast can also become active again taking advantage of this and carrying out some incidents. It is said that such review meetings will be held almost on a daily basis. The security forces have been asked to be vigilant as well as sensitive.
