A severe cold warning has been issued in Rajasthan from next week due to the continuous blowing of cold winds from North India. At present, the lowest minimum temperature is being recorded in Shekhawati, ranging between 8 and 9 degrees Celsius. Most other areas are above 10 degrees Celsius and near normal. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of a slight drop in temperature during the next two to three days and minimum temperatures falling drastically in Shekhawati.
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for Jhunjhunu and Sikar in Shekhawati from December 3rd onwards. In Fatehpur, Sikar, the temperature has reached 2 degrees Celsius this season. Due to the severity of the cold, ice has started forming on standing crops in the fields. In the hill station of Mount Abu, the mercury plummeted to zero, causing the lake water to freeze.
This time, winter has arrived early in the state. Meteorologists say that Rajasthan has experienced such cold weather in November after nearly two decades. Snowfall in the northern Himalayas is causing icy winds, which are also affecting the plains below.
