A rescue operation is going on to safely rescue three-year-old girl Chetna in Kiratpura village of Kotputli-Behror district of Rajasthan. An official gave this information on Monday. Chetna fell into a borewell a week ago.
All the officials are silent about the condition of Chetna trapped in the borewell for 8 days. District Collector Kalpana Agarwal has claimed that this is the most difficult operation in Rajasthan. On December 28, Chetna's family and villagers also accused the administration of negligence.
National Disaster Response Force sub-inspector Mahavir Singh said that the NDRF and other disaster management personnel are inside the tunnel dug to rescue the child and are getting closer to their target. He said that the jawans are in touch with the officers and digging is being done as per their instructions.
Sub-inspector Mahavir Singh said, "We will not be able to tell the exact situation. The rescue workers are climbing back up from the tunnel. Once they come out, we will tell you how much digging we have done." "We are getting closer to our target every second. The jawans are in touch with the concerned officials. Excavation is going on as per their instructions," he added. We have called experts so that we keep digging in the right direction. For this, we also have equipment which is being used to guide us. Our jawans are adamant, standing firmly in this position.
Due to the hardness of the stones, some special type of equipment has also been ordered. The mining rescue team has also been summoned for the rescue work. As per the officials of the NDRF, though the work is nearing completion, yet the officials hope that the work may get completed by Monday.
The solid rock is giving us problems. It's not easy to cut the rock, but the rescue-related work goes on continuously. We hope that we will rescue the girl soon. About half the work has been completed and we will try to complete it by tomorrow, Meena told reporters on Sunday.
The Collector ofKotputli-Behror District, Kalpana Agarwal briefed the media persons on Sunday saying that there are big hurdles in the work laid to reach the girl herself through the tunnel as the path lying under the rocky tunnel, besides the temperature difference between plus and minus above and below the tunnel is also thwarting rescue efforts. ***.
Aggarwal said, we are building the tunnel...the challenge has increased because the tunnel path is rocky...there is a lot of difference in the temperature above and below...all options are being considered and discussed...the best equipment has been made available.
According to officials, the operation reached a crucial point on Thursday night (December 26) when the B-plan was implemented and a casing pipe was lowered into the hole next to the borewell.
Officials, including teams from the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local administration, are leading the rescue operation. NDRF personnel had earlier said that they were making all possible efforts to rescue the girl despite challenging conditions. The girl had fallen into the borewell while playing in her father's field in Kiratpura village on December 23.
