The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is nearing its final stage. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has done incredibly well under the leadership of young player Rajat Patidar and the team is sure to go to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the side has placed a major bet by adding Mayank Agarwal to their squad at the expense of injured left-hand batter Devdutt Padikkal.

IPL announced on Wednesday that Royal Challengers Bangalore have acquired the services of Mayank Agarwal to replace Devdutt Padikkal after he suffered a right hamstring injury for the rest of IPL 2025 matches. Devdutt Padikkal, who featured for 10 matches for RCB in the season and made 247 runs with two half-centuries, has incurred a right hamstring injury.

Mayank remained unsold in the mega auction. His base price was Rs 1 crore, but none of the 10 franchises showed interest in him. He was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2023 and 2024, but was released before the mega auction.

Mayank Agarwal has so far scored 2665 runs in 121 innings of 127 matches at an average of 22.78 in his IPL career. During this, he has also scored 13 half-centuries and a century. Mayank's career strike rate is 133.25. In such a situation, he can contribute in the top order of RCB. He has previously played for RCB in 2011 and also plays domestic cricket for Karnataka.
