Ravindra Bhatkar removed from the post of CEO of Censor Board of Film Certification, linked to bribery; investigation started

Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) CEO Ravindra Bhatkar has been relieved from the post. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has issued a notice asking him to leave the post of CEO and return to his previous post. Ravindra came to the Censor Board from the Railway Department. However, no clear information has been revealed yet regarding the reasons for his sudden removal from this post.

The matter of Ravindra's removal is also linked to the allegations of bribery made against the Censor Board in the recent past. A few days ago, Tamil actor Vishal alleged that he had to pay Rs 6.5 lakh to the Censor Board officials to get the Hindi version of his Tamil film Mark Antony certified. After, registering the case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started an investigation against some CBFC officials and three others.

The CBI has identified the other three persons as Merlin Mainga, brother-in-law Ramdas and Rajut. At the same time, no revelation has been made regarding the names of CBFC employees. Till the time of writing this news, no official information has been revealed as to whether the removal of Ravindra Bhatkar is related to this matter or whether there is some other reason for it.
