Rajasthan High Rain Warning: More than 30 dam gates opened
Rajasthan Monsoon Update: Heavy rains are continuing in Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of it continuing for the next four-five days. Due to continuous rains, there is a lot of water inflow in many dams of the state, due to which the gates of more than 30 dams had to be opened.
The heavy rains in Rajasthan over the last 48 hours are expected to continue for the next 4-5 days. The monsoon front is passing through southern Rajasthan. As a result, a warning of very heavy rain has been issued for many districts today. Due to severe rains in central and western Rajasthan, nine people have lost their lives from drowning caused by sudden heavy inflows into dams and rivers. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely to persist for the next 4 to 5 days. Additionally, heavy rains may occur in some parts of western Rajasthan. The Jaipur Meteorological Center warns that very heavy rains could hit Jaipur, Dausa, and Tonk today. Other districts are also under a yellow alert for heavy rain.
Over the past 48 hours, heavy rainfall has caused significant water inflows into the state's dams, leading to the opening of more than 30 dam gates. Jawahar Sagar Dam is releasing 1,38,750 cusecs of water through five gates. As per the Water Resources Department, on Wednesday’s heavy rainfall led to an inflow of 254 cusecs into the dams on Thursday. Of the state’s small and medium dams, 44 are fully filled, while 408 are partially filled.
Bisalpur Dam, which supplies water to many districts including Jaipur, is also experiencing a large inflow. As of Friday morning, its water level reached 313.51 meters, with 89 cm of water accumulated since June 1.
