People's age will be reduced in South Korea

The age of the people of South Korea is going to be reduced by 1 to 2 years. This will not happen by any miracle but because of changing the way of counting the age. In fact, in the traditional way of counting age in South Korea, a child is considered one year old as soon as it is born. On the other hand, on January 1 of the next year, his age is increased by one more year and he becomes two years old. Suppose a child is born on 10 December, then on 1 January 2023 he will be considered two years old. There used to be a lot of confusion about counting the age in this way. That's why the government of South Korea has removed the traditional way of counting age by passing a law. From June next year, the age will be counted in the normal way. That is, the child who is born on 10 December will be one year old only on 10 December of the next year. By doing this, the age of all people will be reduced by 1 to 2 years.
The Ministry of Justice issued a statement on Thursday announcing changes in the method of counting age. He wrote that the age of South Korea is going to decrease. He asked the people to adopt the new system for official documents. So that the age of the country can be in line with international standards. Lee Yong-ho, chief of South Africa's transition committee, said there was constant confusion over different methods of age counting. There were also social and economic losses. Parents of children born in December felt that their children would suffer losses.
Age is still counted in three ways in South Korea. You have already read above about the first traditional method. In the second official method, the child's age at birth is considered zero, but on January 1 of the following year, his age is one year. Then on January 1 of every year, the age increases by one year. Counting age in this way causes many people problems with military service and legal entitlements. Whereas the third is the internationally accepted common method of counting age. From June next year, the age will be calculated only in this way.
