There was a stir in Assam when the news of planting bombs at many places came to light. In fact, the proscribed ULFA-I claimed on Thursday to have planted bombs in 24 locations around the state. Following this, the security forces dispatched teams to search for bombs.

However, local police officers in Nagaon, Lakhimpur, and Sivasagar claimed to have found bomb-like material from eight locations. Guwahati is home to eight of the 24 spots. These include an open field near the official houses of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other ministers in Dispur.

Another location is the Satgaon road, which leads to the army cantonment near Narengi, Guwahati. Aside from these, bomb blasts have been recorded in the capital's Ashram Road, Panbazar, Jorbat, Bhetapara, Maligaon, and Rajgarh areas.

A senior police officer said that bomb disposal squads were sent to all the places mentioned by the ULFA-I. At the same time, an email was sent to media houses on behalf of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA-I). In this, the terrorist organization said that the bombs did not explode due to technical failure.
