NCP supports BJP coalition government in Nagaland

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has announced his support to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in Nagaland. After this decision of the NCP chief, it is clear that the party will not play the role of opposition in Nagaland. At present, there is a coalition government of NDPP and BJP in the state. However, it is not yet clear whether the NCP will be part of the government in Nagaland or will only have outside support.
According to the news agency, this decision of the party has come after the opinion of the Nagaland unit of NCP and 7 MLAs to support the government in the interest of the state. Same, after this decision of the NCP, its effect can be seen in the politics of Maharashtra, because there is an alliance of Congress, Shiv Sena of the Uddhav faction and NCP.
The NCP's decision comes at a time when the party was preparing to sit in the opposition in Nagaland. The party's national general secretary and in-charge of the Northeast, Narendra Verma, said the party was preparing for the post of Leader of the Opposition in the state. The final decision was left to Sharad Pawar. Pawar on Tuesday decided to support the leadership of Neiphiu Rio after hearing the in-charge proposal.
The NCP Legislature Party meeting was held in Kohima on 4 March. During this, it was discussed who would be the leader, deputy leader, the chief whip, whip and spokesperson of the legislature party. The meeting elected Picto Shohe as Legislature Party Leader, P Longon as Deputy Leader, Namri Nchang as Chief Whip, Y Mohanbemo Hamtso as Whip and S Toiho Yeptho as Spokesperson.
The NDPP-BJP alliance has again formed the government in Nagaland. Neiphiu Rio took oath as the Chief Minister of Nagaland for the fifth time. The NDPP-BJP won 37 seats, of which the NDPP won 25 and the BJP 12 in the state's 60-seat assembly. NDPP came into existence in 2017.
