Union Minister Kiren Rijiju explained why the violence was occurring, saying that "peace is possible in Manipur only through talks"
Manipur: Rijiju said that 'if anyone wants to restore peace in Manipur then he should first appeal to the Meitai and Kuki communities to give up their arms. There will be no solution through armed conflict. Peace can come to the state only through dialogue.

In Manipur, which is rife with violence, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has stated that dialogue is the only path to peace. According to the Union Minister, efforts are being made by the Central Government to quickly bring peace back to the state. Rijiju attributed the state's violence to the High Court's decision to classify the Meitais as a Scheduled Tribe.
Rijiju said that 'if anyone wants to restore peace in Manipur, he should first appeal to the Meitai and Kuki communities to give up their arms. There will be no solution through armed conflict. Peace can come to the state only through dialogue. Our government is focusing on this in the next phase. The Union Earth Sciences Minister said that 'the government is trying its best to restore peace in the state. PM Modi has also appealed for peace in the state from the Red Fort and also in the Parliament. The Union Minister said that this year the Prime Minister had started his speech on Independence Day by appealing for peace in Manipur and had said that the entire country is with Manipur, yet the opposition is trying to instigate the issue. '
Rijiju said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah stayed in Manipur for four days Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai for 22 days and many other officials are also making efforts to bring peace in Manipur. Riju said the violence broke out when the High Court ordered the inclusion of Maitai in the ST category. He said, 'Don't you think that the High Court had given a very different kind of order? It is the job of the government to include a community in the Scheduled Tribe category and it is a policy-related job. When the High Court directs that someone should be registered as a tribe within three months, there will be a reaction from the other side. That is why violence broke out and if anyone says that violence took place in Manipur because of the Central Government, then he is either an idiot or very unfortunate who is making such statements.
