Nepal Army Chief Sigdel arrived in India, discussed bilateral defense cooperation with Indian Army Chief

Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel met Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday. The Nepal Army Chief arrived in India on a four-day visit and discussed several issues including bilateral defense cooperation and regional security with his Indian counterpart. The Defense Ministry said that the visit of the Nepal Army Chief is an important step towards strengthening defense relations between the two countries. Nepal Army Chief will be on a visit to India from 11-14 December. He will leave for Kathmandu on 15 December.

Nepal Army Chief Sigdel also met Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The Defense Ministry said that during the meeting, views were exchanged on a wide range of defense and security issues. Also, matters of mutual interest and strengthening friendship were discussed.

Earlier in the day, the Chief of Army Staff of Nepal paid floral tribute at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. He began his visit to the country by paying respect to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in service to the nation. On that, the ministry said that starting a tour by remembering reflects the commitments of Nepal to honor shared values ​​​​of courage and sacrifice. A guard of honor was then accorded to General Sigdel at the South Block.
