The world is shifting towards clean energy and new technologies. India is geared up to take the opportunity of disrupting the supply chain of the world. The primary objective of holding the auction is to reduce the import of minerals including lithium, graphite, rare earth, tungsten, vanadium, and titanium, as these are required in various products including smartphone batteries.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey will be present during the auction. The ministry believes that the availability of these minerals will not only advance India's technological advancement but also strengthen the country in strategic sectors.

Along with the auction, the government is also emphasizing inclusive development. The ministry is also organizing the "National District Mineral Foundation Summit 2026" in the capital on Monday and Tuesday. Its goal is to foster development in mining areas. The government maintains that mining areas should also receive their rights. This is a major effort to revitalize India's "Mission 2047" and its dream of becoming a green energy hub.
