MCG Pitch Strikes Again as Australia Fold, England Get Manageable but Tough Target
Australia has set England a target of 175 runs. The Melbourne pitch is providing dangerous swing and bounce for fast bowlers, and three innings have been completed in about a day and a half.
The fourth Test between Australia and England in the 2025-26 Ashes series is currently taking place at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). England, as usual, has shown their strong bowling skills by dismissing Australia for just 132 in the second innings. England was given an opportunity to take on Australia with a 42-run lead in the previous inning. Australia needs 175 more runs in order to win the game.
The Aussie team started battling, being all out for 152 runs only in 45.2 overs. England's first innings performance was quite poor too. The team got all out for just 110 runs, which gave Aussie a lead of 42 runs. The Aussie team lost all their wickets for 132 runs in 34.3 overs, giving England a target of 175 runs.
Except for opener Travis Head, captain Steve Smith, and all-rounder Cameron Green, no other batsman reached double figures. Head scored 46 runs off 67 balls with the help of four fours. Green remained unbeaten on 19, and Smith on 24.

Apart from these teams, Boland, who came in as a nightwatchman, scored six runs, Jake Weatherald scored five, Marnus Labuschagne scored eight, Alex Carey scored four, and Usman Khawaja returned to the pavilion without scoring. For England, Brydon Carse took the most wickets with four. Captain Stokes took three wickets. Josh Tongue took two, and Gus Atkinson took one.
