Pahalgam Terror Attack: Life Insurance Corporation has made the insurance claim process easier for the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, ensuring that they get timely financial help. This move of LIC is a big relief for the families who have lost their loved ones in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has announced relaxation in the process of settling insurance claims, providing relief to the victims' families of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. According to a statement made by the LIC, it is saddened by the loss of civilians and supports the victim families. The insurance company has discussed expediting the process of settling the claim and simplifying it to help the victims' families receive financial assistance at the earliest.
LIC CMD and MD Siddharth Mohanty said that a number of concessions are being made to release the family of the victims from hardships. For this, if the death certificate of the dead person is not there, then the evidence of the government records, in which it is mentioned that the person died in the attack by these terrorists, will be admitted as proof. Other than this, any amount of compensation received from the central or state government will also be taken as proof of the person's death.
LIC has said that it will take the initiative to contact the affected families and settle their claims as soon as possible. For this, a special process is being implemented in branches across the country. If any family has lost any of its members in this terrorist attack and he was insured with LIC, then they should contact the nearest LIC branch/division/customer zone. Or call LIC's helpline number 022-68276827.
Militants on Tuesday attacked tourists at Pahalgam's Baisaran ground, killing 25 Indian nationals and a Nepali national while injuring several others in one of the deadliest attacks in the Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
Following the attack, India has taken strong retaliatory measures against Pakistan for its support to cross-border terrorism. In a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, India decided to suspend the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 until Pakistan credibly and irreversibly abandons its support to cross-border terrorism and closed the Integrated Attari check post.
India has also declared officials of the Pakistani High Commission persona non grata and ordered them to leave India within a week. The country further decided to cancel any visas granted under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) and ordered Pakistan to leave the country within 48 hours. The Indian government has also decided to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.
