Kerala: Student dies in Wayanad Government Veterinary College, police arrests six; created an uproar

Six persons have been taken into custody by the police in connection with the death of a student at the Government Veterinary and Animal Sciences University of Kerala. Six people were taken into custody on February 29th, according to the police, and one more person from Palakkad was taken into custody today to be questioned.

In this case, politics has also gotten more intense. Congress has charged that the student was beaten to death by the student wing of the ruling CPI(M), SFI. On February 18, the body of 20-year-old Siddharthan, a second-year student at the university, was discovered hanging in the dorm bathroom.

The Congress has made this allegation in response to a statement made by Siddharthan's father, who claimed that local authorities and employees of the Students Federation of India (SFI) had beaten his son for three days in the hostel. SFI has denied the allegation.

Siddharthan's father told a TV channel that according to the post-mortem report, his son had multiple injuries on his body and his stomach was empty, which suggests he was not allowed to eat food for two to three days. He also said that he came to know that his son was beaten during ragging.

Leader of opposition in the state assembly, VD Satheesan, said the accused were SFI workers and they beat the student to death. The Congress leader said that the police have not yet been able to arrest the accused in this case because they are being given protection. He said that the accused should be caught soon, otherwise, Congress will protest.
