With the restoration of peace in India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now decided to resume the remaining IPL 2025 matches. The BCCI announced the new schedule for the remaining matches of the tournament late on Monday, the 12th of May. This schedule has landed about a dozen England players who are playing IPL in trouble. The biggest question before him now is whether he should play IPL or prioritize his nation since the West Indies team is on a tour of England at the time of the IPL.

According to the modified schedule of BCCI, the league stage matches of the IPL 2025 will run from 17 to 27 May. Following that, the first qualifier on 29 May, the eliminator on 30 May, the second qualifier on 1 June and the final on 3 June. With this modified schedule, six English players are in a dilemma that their three-match series against the West Indies is also going to begin from 29 May to 3 June, which is entirely conflicting with the IPL playoffs.

Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell, playing for RCB, have to play the remaining matches. However, Jofra Archer, playing for Rajasthan Royals, can return to England, as Rajasthan has already been eliminated from the playoffs. At the same time, Sam Curran and Jamie Overton will also be free early, as CSK has already been eliminated from the playoffs.

Now the biggest dilemma is in front of Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, Will Jacks and Reece Topley. They have to decide whether they will stay in India for the IPL or return to England giving priority to their country. However, England has not yet announced the team for the ODI series against West Indies starting from May 29. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see what happens next.
