IPL 2024: AB De Villiers made a shocking revelation, made a big allegation on his former IPL franchise

AB de Villiers, one of the great batsmen of South Africa, has made a shocking revelation about his former IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). De Villiers said that after 2010 he was told that he would be retained in 2011, but after a week or two he came to know that he had been released.

Former South African captain and former Royal Challengers Bangalore player AB de Villiers is considered one of the greatest batsmen in history. De Villiers is the second batsman to score the most runs for RCB after Virat Kohli. He scored 4522 runs for RCB in 11 seasons from 2011 to 2021. Earlier, De Villiers played three seasons for Delhi from 2008 to 2010. Now he has made a big allegation against the former IPL franchise.

On his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers revealed that after the 2010 season, the management of the Delhi franchise called him and told him that he would be retained in the team ahead of the 2011 auction. However, after a week or two he learned that he had been released.

De Villiers said, when I played in the 2010 season, I was called to the office and told that you will be retained. I was sitting with David Warner in that meeting. It was a big surprise for me when I realized after a week or two that I had been released.

De Villiers revealed that this was a big shock for him as many doubts crept into his mind. However, he revealed that his life changed forever once he was picked by RCB in the IPL 2011 auction.

AB said, I am unsure about my career, at that time in 2010 I think I played only five games in that IPL season so a lot of doubts arose in my mind, but I had a very good international season. I kept playing good cricket and luckily the auction happened and I was bought by RCB. He changed my life forever.
