Instagram Introduces AI Voice Filters: Chipmunk, Robot, Demon & More
Instagram has introduced AI Voice Effects for voice notes in DMs, allowing users to apply filters like Robot, Alien, and Chipmunk. Available in India, the feature enhances messaging, while the platform is also reportedly developing an AI face-swap tool called ‘Create My Likeness.’
Instagram has a new feature called AI Voice Effects, which is available for voice notes sent using Direct Messages. You can apply various filters to your voice notes, with about eight options available currently. This feature is available in India, and you can use it while composing any message. Recently, a report stated that Instagram is also working on an AI-powered face swap function, which the company may call 'Create My Likeness.'
As per a press release, Instagram is launching a new feature called "AIVoiceEffects," which is powered by AI. You can apply various filters to your voice messages while sending them to others. Our tests have shown that this AI-powered feature is currently available in India.
When accessing via DMs, users can choose from a list of eight AI voice effects. These include 'Chipmunk', 'Demon', 'Alien', 'Robot', 'Underwater', 'Stadium', 'Wobble', and 'Fishbowl'. Users can also revert to the unaltered version of the voice note by clicking the 'Original' button. The company stated that users can also click on the voice note to see which voice filter has been added. The recipient of the message can also tap it to imitate the AI Voice Effect before sending it.

To access Instagram's AI Voice Effects, users must first open Instagram > open any DM thread > tap the voice note record button > click the AI Voice Effects button below the voice note > and then record the voice note. Once recorded, users can click on one of the AI Voice Effects mentioned above to change the tone of the voice recording. Users can also preview voice notes before sending them to others.
Recently, a report suggested that Instagram is planning to introduce an AI-powered face swap feature called 'Create my likeness.' According to reports, this AI-based tool will allow users to write a prompt to create images and videos using AI, and will also reportedly include the ability to create content based on someone else's appearance.
