ICC meeting big meeting: No India-Pakistan men's cricket match in Los Angeles Olympics 2028
No India vs Pakistan at LA Olympics 2028: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a big decision and decided to select the team for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 on the basis of regional qualification. Due to this, there will be no arch-rival India vs Pakistan men's cricket match in the Olympics 2028.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has concluded the qualification pathway for men's cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. This came at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ICC, which was held in Singapore on 17 to 20 July. According to the report, the ICC has decided to decide the qualification of teams on a regional basis. Due to this, there will be no arch-rival India vs Pakistan men's cricket match in the 2028 Olympics.
According to The Guardian, the ICC has decided to decide the qualification on a regional basis. The top-ranked teams from Asia, Oceania, Europe, and Africa will automatically qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. As per this logic, India, Australia, Great Britain, and South Africa will occupy four of the six spots.
The US, as the host, will also qualify. Yet, recently, the ICC had demanded that the whole US Cricket Board resign from the Olympic certification system. If it refused, then the place would be taken by a Caribbean nation. Nevertheless, the second last place will still be there, for which the ICC can organize a tournament for the 5th and last place.
